Melton Toys of Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, has been selected as the Good Toy Guide’s Retailer of the Month for October 2015.

Fundamentally Children is constantly encouraging toy retailers to integrate in the local as much as possible, promoting the importance of play in the early years of child development and Melton Toys and its staff is participating regularly in their town’s local events.

“Melton Toys doesn’t just limit themselves to its bricks and mortar premises, director, James Colclough takes his shop on the road at every opportunity getting involved in many local events. I love their ethos and enthusiasm to go that extra mile for their customers,” commented Lucy Moody, head of retail relations at Fundamentally Children.

Melton Toys was launched by Colclough in November 2009. Occupying one of the oldest buildings in Melton Mowbray, the store is well known for its involvement in many local events. From tug-of-war and Pony Club competitions to Christmas fairs and when Melton Mowbray turns into the seaside for the day, they are there to help bring a point of difference to the town centre shopping experience and most importantly, have some fun.

“We don’t use training manuals and tight procedures to give great customer service at Melton Toys, it’s just what happens when a team enjoys what they do and has a passion for getting things right,“ added James Colclough.

Melton Toys believe every customer deserves to have their questions answered in a confident and knowledgeable manner, even if this means staff taking home a Playmobil catalogue each night as homework.

Since the opening in 2009 Melton Toys has grown with the addition of three new stores in Retford, Newark-on-Trent and Bridlington in East Yorkshire.
